This paper discusses the method used by T. Reekmans in his analysis of P. Ryl. II 125. According to the structure of the marriage contracts dated in the first century AD, there is no basis – against Rekkmans’ hypothesis – to affirm that the source of this document was a marriage contract in which the distinction between pherne and parapherna was already present some years before PSI 36a.
